Short answer: Atomix offers four free calculators for ecommerce brands, all listed on the Atomix Tools page. The Order History Analyzer shows your shipping zone mix and transit times from a store export. The Shipping Transit Time Calculator maps delivery days by service level. The DIM Weight Calculator shows the billed weight of any box. The USPS Shipping Cost Calculator estimates postage for three USPS services. Used in that order, they give you the numbers you need to set a delivery promise and to check any 3PL quote.

Which free shipping calculators does Atomix offer?

ToolWhat you enterWhat you get
Order History AnalyzerA CSV of past orders with ship-to ZIP codes (Shopify, WooCommerce or Amazon exports), up to 50,000 rowsAverage zone and transit time, share of orders delivered in 2 days or less, estimated savings per order, zone mix and top states
Shipping Transit Time CalculatorAtomix warehouse locations and a service levelA map of the lower 48 showing typical business days in transit
DIM Weight CalculatorBox dimensions and actual weightDIM weight and billed weight for UPS, FedEx, USPS and Atomix services
USPS Shipping Cost CalculatorOrigin and destination ZIP, weight, optional dimensionsCommercial and retail prices for Ground Advantage, Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express

All four are estimates for planning, not quotes. Each tool page states its own limits, and the sections below summarize them.

How do you find your shipping zone mix?

Start with the Order History Analyzer, because every other number depends on where your customers are. Export a few months of orders, upload the file, and pick a service level (Ground or Economy), your average package weight and your current cost per order. The tool estimates how those orders would ship from Atomix's Milwaukee, Baltimore and Salt Lake City warehouses.

  • Privacy: the file is read in your browser and not uploaded to a server. Only ZIP codes, plus order count and weight if you include them, are used.
  • Limits: zones are estimated from the distance between ZIP code areas, and costs are based on Atomix rates before carrier surcharges.

Our step-by-step guide to finding your average shipping zone from a Shopify export shows how to pull the file and read the results.

How do you set a delivery promise you can keep?

Next, open the Shipping Transit Time Calculator. Choose one, two or all three Atomix warehouses and a service level (Express 1 to 2 days, Ground 2 to 4, Economy 2 to 5) to see typical transit days across the lower 48. The page also publishes measured Ground results from July to October 2026: 49% of orders delivered within 1 to 2 business days, 81% within 3 and 98% within 5, weighted to where people live.

Use the map to decide what to say at checkout. A promise that holds for 98% of customers can go sitewide. A faster one should be limited to the ZIP codes that qualify. The ground transit times breakdown explains how to turn the distribution into checkout copy.

How do you check what your packaging costs to ship?

Carriers bill the greater of actual weight and dimensional weight, so the box often matters as much as the product. Enter a box's dimensions and weight in the DIM Weight Calculator to see billed weight by carrier and service. The tool uses a 166 divisor for UPS, FedEx and Atomix services. For USPS, it applies dimensional weight only to parcels larger than one cubic foot. It rounds dimensions up for a conservative estimate and flags surcharges without pricing them. For billed weights across standard cartons, see the DIM weight chart for 15 common box sizes.

How do you estimate USPS postage for light parcels?

For light packages, compare USPS before you assume a private carrier is cheaper. The USPS Shipping Cost Calculator takes origin and destination ZIP codes plus weight and shows commercial and retail prices side by side for Ground Advantage (2 to 5 business days), Priority Mail (1 to 3) and Priority Mail Express (1 to 2), with the lowest price marked. Prices come from the USPS Notice 123 price list effective October 4, 2026, which includes a temporary holiday increase through January 17, 2027. Insurance, signature and other extra services are not included.

How do you use these tools to check a 3PL quote?

  1. Size the shipping line. Run your order export through the Order History Analyzer. Your average zone and package weight drive most of the per-order shipping cost on any quote.
  2. Test the delivery claims. Compare the transit map with what each 3PL promises. Ask whether its numbers are measured deliveries or carrier estimates.
  3. Check billed weight. Put your top three cartons through the DIM Weight Calculator. If a quote uses a different divisor, the same box can bill heavier.
  4. Benchmark light parcels. Price your lightest orders with the USPS calculator to see whether a quote's rates beat retail and commercial postage.
  5. Compare the full fee stack. Shipping is one line. Our 3PL pricing guide covers receiving, storage, pick and pack and the rest.

Atomix adds tools to the Tools page as they launch, and this guide will be updated to cover each one.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Atomix calculators free?

Yes. All four are free to use on the Atomix website.

Do I need to upload customer data to the Order History Analyzer?

The file is processed in your browser and isn't sent to a server. The tool reads ZIP codes, plus order count and weight if you include them, and ignores names and addresses.

How accurate are the estimates?

They are planning estimates. Zones are estimated from ZIP code distances, the DIM tool rounds dimensions up, and costs exclude carrier surcharges and extra services. For a quote on your real rates, talk to the Atomix team.

What is the best free shipping calculator for comparing carriers?

For billed weight across UPS, FedEx, USPS and Atomix services, use the DIM Weight Calculator. For USPS postage, use the USPS Shipping Cost Calculator. For your whole order base, use the Order History Analyzer.

Do the tools cover Alaska and Hawaii?

The transit map covers the lower 48. For Alaska, Hawaii and APO/FPO addresses, the USPS calculator page points you to the USPS Postage Price Calculator.
